Cruising back in Sophia from dropping the kids off at camp..cop, that didn't think I saw him sitting on top of the exit ramp pulls in behind me. I,not being an idiot, am not going even a smidge over the speed limit. 65 on the dot, no more, no less....when suddenly a wild white Hyundai appears, probably doing 80 or so( as fast as it could go, probably) Mr. Copper, smells blood in the water and tears off behind him, leaving me in my shiny red car to go about our way.

Remember, he did pull in directly behind me first. The cop was looking for something, but when Mr. Obviously speeding guy went by, he didn't have much choice but to go for him instead.

He might have had a note to look for a certain type of car. He may have been fishing. Hard to say.

A number of years ago, I was tooling along the interstate when I noticed a trooper parked under a tree on top of the hill ahead. I, and the old Suburban in front of me, had been going about 5 over in a construction zone. After we passed, he pulled out and positioned himself on my left rear quarter panel. The three of us drove like that, at precisely 60 mph, for a few miles, before he eased forward and pulled over the old Suburban, which was being driven by an older Hispanic driver. I'm sure he ran both of our plates, and maybe the Suburban had warrants, or expired tags, who knows. He may also have been profiling, and opted for the old Hispanic guy over the middle-aged white guy.

I think that if that other guy hadn't gone buy his lights would have flipped on. He would have tried to find a reason. It seems to be the way it is around here mid-month. (I know they say they are no quotas, but experience tells me otherwise.)

Maybe, but here in San Diego they would have a never ending task if they only targeted Hispanics. We're right on the border. About every other person is Hispanic down here.

I have yet to be pulled over in my Celica (little red convertible) but then again I'm not doing anything stupid in it either. I have had cops pull in behind me, lane change with me, etc, probably looking for an excuse; they move on after I don't give them one.
I have had them take off after a better target like you describe though.
I don't put too much credence in the whole red car theory but I do think they have been moderately interested in my car over other cars. That's just my subjective experience, though.

My 2nd favorite model! Still like the 1st gen better. Those were still RWD, right? I may have to look at getting one before the price of those shoot into the stratosphere as well.

Yessir! Last year they were RWD.
I love the 1st gen too, they're just so tough to come by in good shape for my budget.
On top of that this one just kind of fell into my lap and I couldn't pass it up!
